In 1983, the AM General Corporation developed 55,000 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, which became nicknamed “Humvees.” They were designed to help transport troops and cargo and were used by American military in 1989 and the Persian Gulf War. The Hummer, a civilian version of the Humvee, was introduced in 1992. The vehicle weighed around 10,000 pounds and was the opposite of fuel efficient, as it got less than 10 miles per gallon, though it was still a hit with many Hollywood celebrities. General Motors purchased the rights from AM General in 1999 to market the Hummer. The Hummer H2 was introduced in 2002 as a smaller and less expensive model in the lineup. An even smaller model, the H3, premiered in 2005, weighing 5800 pounds and getting 16-20 miles per gallon. The production of the original Hummer stopped in 2008 due to the economic downturn. Sales of all Hummer vehicles began to diminish, and in 2010, it was announced that the brand would be completely shut down.

While the brand went defunct in 2010, these cars are still on the roads. It’s important that if you’re driving a Hummer, you are investing in parts that were made specifically for your model. We sell OEM Hummer parts and accessories here on our site so finding what you need is simple. Shop today!
